ONLINE TEMPERATURE & PARTIAL DISCHARGE MONITORING

Installation conditions, environmental conditions, power quality, and operating processes cause negative impacts on electrical equipment such as overheating, partial discharge, mechanical damage, insulation damage, gas leakage, incorrect metering devices, and mistaken protection devices. Overheating and partial discharge shorten the operating life of equipment and can lead to serious fire and explosion incidents that affect the reliability and safety of the electrical system. Currently, ONLINE maintenance, diagnosis, and monitoring are becoming a development trend. Advanced technologies and solutions have been helping to detect early hazards that can lead to damage to electrical system equipment.

The solution monitors temperature, partial discharge, ambient temperature and humidity to enhance monitoring of electrical cabinets, helping to proactively detect and prevent early problems for electrical equipment. Advantages of the solution:

 Wireless technology

No battery required

No maintenance required

Real-time alerts

Device conditions monitoring

Cloud storage

1. Monitoring equipment layout

Devices including temperature sensors, UHF antennas, humidity sensors will be arranged inside the compartments of circuit breaker cabinets or other electrical equipment. Temperature sensors will be installed at key connection locations such as busbars, cable connections and circuit breaker terminals.

2. Device characteristics

Principle of operation

The operating principle of the monitoring system is carried out from sensors that will measure temperature, discharge, humidity values and send the values to the data reader. The data reader will process the data, store and send it to display devices and software.

– The sensor device includes temperature, humidity and partial discharge sensors for measurement.

– The data reader will simultaneously collect temperature, humidity and partial discharge data from the sensors. The data is packaged, processed to send to registers and stored in a memory card.

– The data reader communicates and sends data to the IOT Gateway or SCADA/DCS system via RS-485 and Ethernet communication methods with Modbus RTU/TCP IP protocol.

– Information about temperature, humidity and partial discharge will be displayed on the HMI screen, computer or web browser, allowing for warnings, sending SMS messages and emails when there is an abnormality.
